More than one hundred years ago, a new community of faith was founded by a small group of Bohemian immigrant Catholics under the patronage of St. John the Martyr on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. That founding generation, which left us such a beautiful legacy, has passed. We are a new generation of parishioners who have, in the true spirit of our Church, come together to shape our future through the grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
As members of St. John the Martyr Roman Catholic Church, we commit ourselves to the building of a Christian community in which the Gospel of Jesus Christ will be proclaimed and manifested through Word, Sacrament and Works of Mercy.
The Church of St. John the Martyr is a place of worship where we enter into a deeper and more intimate union with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; a place to deepen our faith; a place to discover opportunities to respond to the needs of our brothers and sisters in the Lord; and a place to support one another in the love of Jesus.
We invite and encourage you to actively participate in the parish by offering your gifts to make a good community of faith an even better one.
