Biography
Over the course of more than 40 years, Fr. Sean has used his broad counseling experience to help Carmelite novices, high schoolers, Navy personnel, the addicted and people of faith to come to terms with their problems.
Fr. Sean began studies for the Carmelite Order immediately after graduating from St. Simon Stock High School in the Bronx. He took his vows as a Carmelite in 1963 and began his philosophical and theological studies in Washington, DC at Whitefriars Hall and The Catholic University of America, receiving a BA degree in Philosophy. In 1969 he received an MA in Education (Counseling) and was ordained a priest in June of that year.
Immediately after ordination, Fr. Sean began his 22 years as a teacher, counselor and administrator in Catholic secondary schools in Virginia, New York and Florida. He and eight other Carmelites founded Pope John Paul II High School in Boca Raton, Florida in 1980, and he served as Principal there from 1982 until 1991. During this time he served as a Chaplain in the United States Naval Reserve (1971-1988).
In 1991 Fr. Sean was called from Florida to Middletown, NY to be the Novice Director for his Province, and Administrator of St. Paul’s Church in Bullville, NY (1991-1995). He was later assigned as Pastor at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Brooklyn, NY (1995-2001) and then Our Lady of the Scapular – St. Stephen’s in Manhattan (2001-2007).
In July, 2007 Fr. Sean was called to serve as Pastor of the Church of St. John the Martyr.
